Napier Girls' High School is committed to high quality education for girls in a caring environment

Ngâ mihi nui ki a koutou ngâ kaipânui

Nau mai haere mai

Ko te manu e kai ana i te miro, nôna te ngâhere

Ko te manu e kai ana i te matauranga, nôna te ao.

The bird who feeds on the miro berries - her domain is the forest.

The bird who feeds on knowledge - the world is hers.

Napier is an attractive area with an excellent climate and opportunities for outdoor pursuits which contribute to the area being a popular lifestyle destination.

Napier Girls' High School is a traditional school providing high quality all-round education to young women. The school is built on the top of Bluff Hill and has been a significant icon in Napier for 130 years. Strong traditions have been established that are a big part of the school today. The Old Girls continue to contribute actively participating in events and a number of celebrations held each year.

The buildings have won awards for reflecting both heritage and modern aspects of design and the views are spectacular and inspiring.

The school has high academic and personal expectations of students. Results in national examinations exceed those of other similar schools year after year and large numbers of students are involved in co-curricular activities. There is a huge variety of opportunities available in sport, music and cultural areas. Students are encouraged to participate and many also represent the school at regional and national levels of competition. Vertical forms and a House system ensure students mix with a wide variety of people of different ages and interests. They develop confidence and personal skills and build strong loyalties to their school. Staff enjoy the friendly, respectful relationships with students and the caring supportive environment.

Deans follow through with a year level to assist students who are encouraged to reach their potential.

Napier Girls' High School places a strong emphasis on teaching and learning. There is a Thinking Skills programme and all Year 9 students experience all the available subjects from which to make choices in the senior school. It provides excellent facilities and a safe environment for students to develop the skills necessary for whatever choices they want to take on in the future. Students are encouraged to make the most of all the opportunities on offer and enjoy their time here.

Napier Girls' High School has an enrolment scheme as the number of students wishing to attend exceeds the number allowed by the limited school site. Families need to follow the procedures for enrolment outlined in the prospectus.
