Uniform
The uniform shop is open every Wednesday 12.30pm - 5.30pm.
We believe that it is important to maintain high standards of dress and appearance, and therefore require that the following uniform be worn.
All school uniform items, except shoes, are available from the school uniform shop on the green below the Gym. Prices are shown below.
The shop is open during term time on Wednesday 12.30pm - 5:30pm. It is located on the Upper Green below the Walker building. A second-hand uniform service is also provided in the Uniform Shop.
- SUMMER SKIRT ($62) - Air Force Blue, knee-length or just above.
- SUMMER BLOUSE ($37) - Short sleeve, white with piping colour Air Force Blue.
- SUMMER FOOTWEAR - Blue Roman sandals, without socks, or Black school winter regulation shoes with plain white ankle socks.
- SWIMMING TOGS - Swimming togs are required (board shorts may be worn over togs). N.B. Swimming is compulsory.
- WINTER KILT ($125) - Napier tartan kilted skirt, knee-length or just above.
- WINTER BLOUSE ($36) - Long-sleeved white shirt blouse.
- TIE ($18) - The tie is part of the winter uniform.
- JERSEY ($79 or $89) - Auckland Blue, regulation pattern V neck. No other jerseys or jackets may be worn at any time.
- SCHOOL JACKET ($110) - The school jacket, complete with crest, is the only jacket (apart from the school blazer) that can be worn as part of the school uniform. It is an optional part of the uniform.
- WINTER FOOTWEAR - Traditional, sturdy, black leather school shoes with either laces or a single strap.
- WINTER SOCKS ($12) - Navy knee length socks, black, or
- WINTER TIGHTS ($10) - Black or flesh-coloured tights if preferred.
- SCHOOL BLAZER ($215) - Auckland Blue with the school crest on the pocket. Students are required to wear the school blazer when officially representing the school, but it is an optional part of the uniform. The blazer can be purchased from the Uniform Shop.
- SCARF ($20) - The scarf is royal blue and white in alternate stripes. Stripes are approximately 10 cm apart. It is optional.
- RAINCOAT (optional) - Full length waterproof raincoat of any colour.
- GLOVES (optional) - Auckland blue, fabric or wool.
- P.E. SHORTS ($27) - Plain blue shorts (or tracksuit pants).
- P.E. SHIRT ($28) - A white polo shirt with navy stripes on collar.
- P.E. FOOTWEAR - Sports shoes and white ankle socks.
- SPORTS UNIFORMS - These may be hired by girls playing for the school. School track-suits and sweat-shirts are also available for Inter-school sporting activities.
YEAR 13 GIRLS - MUFTI
The standard of mufti will be to the satisfaction of the Principal. The standard expected will be explained to the students at the beginning of the year.
Body piercing (other than ears), and tattooing are not acceptable in Year 13. Extreme hair colour and styles are not acceptable.
HOSTEL MUFTI
The standard of mufti will be to the satisfaction of the Principal.
JEWELLERY
Only a watch is permitted. The only body piercing allowed is plain studs in the ears. Nose, tongue, eyebrow and other body piercings are not acceptable.
HAIR
Long hair must be tidy while girls are in uniform. Hair styles must be satisfactory to the Principal and do not include extremes of fashion or colour.
RIBBONS, HAIR CLIPS, ETC
These must be navy, black, blue or white.
NAMING
All articles of uniform and all other possessions must be clearly marked with the owner's name.
BREACHES OF UNIFORM REGULATIONS
Breaches of uniform regulations will result in warnings, discussion with students and parents, and Deans' detentions if the problem is ongoing. Parents should reconsider enrolling their daughters at Napier Girls' High School if they are not prepared to support correct wearing of the school uniform.
