School Hours
School starts at 8.40am each day.  All students finish at 3.00pm.

​​​​​​​Absences
Parents are asked to notify the school by email, text or phone of any absence from school, or for leave required at lunchtime.  You can also notify the school of absence/leave via the school app.  The phone number for absences is 835 4199, email absentee@nghs.school.nz or txt 021 477 550

School Holidays
Apart from school holiday breaks, Waitangi Day, Easter, King’s Birthday, Matariki, Labour Day and Hawke’s Bay Anniversary Day are observed as holidays. Please check the Term Calendars for other days the school is closed.

Reporting to Parents
Reports are sent out regularly. 

Special evenings are arranged during the year when parents can consult all their daughter’s teachers.

​​​​​​​Mobile phones 
Mobile phones must be in the bottom of schoolbags, switched off for the school day (8.40am - 3.00pm), as well as special school events outside regular school hours. No phones should be seen in either class or break times. 

​​​​​​​Leaving School
A request to leave school during the school year or at the end of the year must be sent to the Principal in writing at least one week before leaving school and should state destination or proposed occupation.
