Head Prefect
Message from Hewett House Head Prefect Lucy Pullen
HEWETT HOUSE Hewett House has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a one girl boarding facility, to where it is today 125 years old, buzzing with girls from different cultures and places, that range from as close as Greenmeadows to as far as Hong Kong. With a total of 160 girls under its roof you could say it makes for a big family. Favourite pass times include everyone sprawled out in front of the recreation room flat screen watching Home and Away, competing in our outrageous house events and of course our legendary chicken burger nights. Girls come to the hostel to gain a quality education, but leave with much more. Lifelong friendships, life skills (e.g. doing their own washing) as well as gaining an abundance of experiences unique to Hewett House. For me, there is no place like the hostel. Each year a new group of Year 9 arrive and a familiar group of Year 13 leave confident and independent ready to start their new lives and make their mark on the world. Being a Hewett House girl comes with a lot of pride. It is the hostel life and traditions that make it such an awesome place. Whether it is the Hewett House song, birthday table bangs or mock court. It is these traditions and the friendships formed that make Hewett House a very special part of Napier Girls' High School.
