About the role

Napier Girls’ High School is seeing a passionate and enthusiastic teacher to join our Mathematics Learning Area.

This role is suitable for a beginning or experienced teacher. Our ideal candidate will be able to teach through to senior level mathematics and statistics. 

This is a full-time, permanent position. Ideally beginning in October of 2025 (Term 4), however a later start date, up to February 2026 would be considered for the right candidate.

Napier Girls’ High School is located in Ahuriri, Napier, and provides education for students in Years 9-13. The School is one of the oldest in New Zealand for girls. Napier Girls’ High School – Examination Centre Manager

Napier Girls’ High School is looking for an Examination Centre Manager to oversee the 2025 NCEA and NZ Scholarship examinations. This is a vital role that ensures examination operations run smoothly and are successful for all students involved.

The Examination Centre Manager (ECM) is responsible to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) for conducting the annual NZQA examinations held in November and December.  As ECM, you will be responsible for managing all processes relating to conducting secondary examinations according to NZQA procedures, including employing sufficient supervisors to ensure reliable supervision while efficiently using the minimum number of supervisors.  

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the exam centre during the exam period (November 4–Nov 28).

  • Coordinate the preparation and organisation of exams.

  • Train and manage exam supervisors.

  • Oversee a range of administrative tasks to ensure everything runs efficiently.


Relevant skills & qualifications include:

  • High level of digital literacy (Word, Excel, and ability to adapt quickly to new software).

  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Strong leadership ability with experience managing diverse teams.

Upon appointment, all ECMs must complete an online training programme and attend a one-day training session with NZQA in August. This will allow you to plan and complete some administrative tasks to prepare for the examinations between August and October.  

You must be fully available to work for the entire examination period, from November 3rd to November 28th, 8:30am – 5:30pm, with some flexibility to these hours.  As such, the role requires a high level of organisational skills with great attention to detail, the ability to follow processes precisely, confidence in leading people of all ages, and proficiency in using a computer and learning new computer programmes.
