We are looking for an organised and independent HR & Payroll Administrator, with strong interpersonal and time management skills to join our Support Staff. The right candidate will love process, have an eye for detail and a strong regard for confidentiality. An ability to prioritise and work independently is essential.

The position start date is Friday 23 January 2026.

Job Detail:

Reporting directly to the School Principal, and working closely with Senior Managers.

  • This is a permanent, part time sole charge position 30 hours per week, term time only, with flexibility to work additional hours at peak times.  
  • There is also a requirement to work two additional weeks before Term 1 and after Term 4 and one day during each two-week term break and two days during the Christmas break.

Key Responsibilities:

HR:

  • Liase with Senior Management and Principal with regard to vacant positions, prepare and load adverts, and provide support through to the appointment stage.
  • Prepare appointment letters and contracts in accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines and various Collective Agreements.
  • Implement, maintain and continually review the personnel file management system.
  • Fostering of positive employee relations by ensuring the employees needs and concerns are properly addressed.

Payroll:

  • Be the key contact person for payroll-related queries.
  • Assist in the preparation, administration and reporting of teacher allowances.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all payroll transactions ie: on boarding, payroll changes, fortnightly pay runs, terminations.
  • Ensure all payroll instructions have correct authorisation and support documentation.
  • Prepare, review and report all adjustments and changes to the fortnightly pay run.
  • Set up and manage the School Bank Staffing.
  • Assist in identifying and completing all appropriate resourcing documentation and management reports.
  • Support annual audit activities in relation to HR/Payroll functions.

Pay Detail:

  • Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Pay Scale/ Step:  Grade 4, Step 5-7
  • Hourly rate $42.29 to $44.87 per hour

Teacher in Charge of Te Reo (Parental Leave Cover)

Mō te tūranga - About the role

“Mā te whakapapa pounamu, ka puta mai te taonga, he rite anō te reo Māori” - As we smoothen the layers of greenstone, the treasure from within emerges… much like the Māori language. We are seeking an earnest and passionate teacher to join our Languages department for a maternity cover in 2025 - 2026. We currently have 5 levels of Te Reo Māori at our kura, all classes are connected by the tūākana/teina relationships of our atua wāhine that are an integral part of our learning. This position will grow the success of our reo Māori classes of all levels, as well as work alongside our kāhui Māori - Māori student council to support kaupapa Māori throughout our school. There is much room for this role and department to grow and we welcome any kaiako with connections, skills and ideas to share.

This role is suitable for any teacher, beginning or experienced and our ideal candidate will have:

  • A teaching qualification
  • Ability to converse in and teach Te Reo Māori
  • Enjoy working with rangatahi
  • Ability to build relationships with tauira, whānau, school staff and our community
  • Experience with Kapa Haka, Hākinakina and fostering Māori leadership as an advantage.

This is a full-time, FTC Maternity Cover position that attracts 1 Management Unit. Ideally beginning in Term 4 2025, however a later start date, up to January 2026 would be considered for the right candidate.

Napier Girls' High School is seeking a passionate and skilled teacher of Geography to join our Social Sciences Learning Area. This role is suitable for a beginning or experienced teacher. Please state your supporting subjects in your application.

This is a full-time, permanent position, beginning in January 2026.

Napier Girls' High School is seeking a dynamic and inspiring Head of Learning Area for Mathematics, to lead our team of experienced and dedicated kura māhita. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Leadership experience within a school or similar environment
  • A strong understanding of NCEA, numeracy and an awareness of upcoming changes
  • Exceptional teaching practice and knowledge, with a commitment to meeting diverse academic needs within our kura
  • Commitment to culturally responsive practice
  • Experience in using data to inform practice and a commitment to raising student achievement
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

This is a full-time, permanent position, beginning in January 2026. As a Head of Learning Area, this role attacts 3 Management Units and 1 MMA.
